Hi kids and parents,
Dark Sorrow knows how hard it must be to have a family member in prison or to be a kid serving hard time. You are very important to me and I want to hear your stories. Tell me how you feel about your particular situation whether you have a family member in prison or you are in prison. Ask me any questions you want. We will publish your story on the Internet free. If you're having problems getting through to a family member in prison, let me know. I need your ideas for this Web page to work. It won't be successful without your help. Here is some stories from other kids in prison.

The most common mistake that people make is that they never think it will happen to them...well it can. Anything can happen at any given time.

This should serve as a warning for all the kids out there who make fun of other kids. Whether the reason is because they are too fat, they are too poor, they are a different nationality, they are into gothic and/or Marilyn Manson, they wear too much makeup, they don't wear enough makeup, they are too short, too fat, too thin, handicapped, they are too tall or whether they are just not like you. You want to be mean to people and make fun of people? Well you just might screw with the wrong person and he or she will blow your head off among other things. Besides the fact of how much you hurt them. So stop making fun of other people, get a life and try to do the best you can or accept the sad consequences of what some people do when they snap after years of being made fun of by their peers.. Life is short. Don't think it will happen to you? Think again.

The definition of a tough guy/girl is someone who knows how to handle a situation with their hands only after they try to walk away and does not brag about being a tough guy/girl. Anyone can bring fear when they have a gun. Guns do not make tough guys. Guns that are used in a way to get power and fear are a sign that you are weak!

I can certainly understand the need to be in a gang which represents power, fear and a sense of family especially when you have no family or a family that is addicted to drugs and poor. Even if your family is fine, I can still understand the need to be feared and have power. Who doesn't want to be feared and have alot of power and money? There are other ways of going about it. Why do these gangs kill each other? Why do the gangs kill not only rival gang members but their own gang members as well? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of unity and family? Aren't you sick of going to funerals? Call a truce to all the killing, we need you around.

A Young Man Trying To Heal
Dear Dark Sorrow, I really want to thank you for what you wrote telling children to STOP BULLYING OTHER KIDS!!! Because my parents were originally from an Asian country I was not white like most other kids in school. My appearance along with my shyness and my uncommon first and last name made me a HUGE target for bullies from kindergarten all the way through high school. There are just no words to describe how it feels to be singled out, isolated and viewed as an outcast by people your own age. And having those negative messages reinforced day after day and year after year has taken a devastating toll on me emotionally. I am 22yrs.old and have now been in therapy since spring of 1997, which was when I finally became emotionally overwhelmed and could no longer function. I have a great therapist and am on medications because I also have an anxiety disorder, which I believe is directly related to all those years of bullying. Even today I often feel like I'm a weird and useless person and that everyone is out to laugh at me and fuck me over. Although I never have or would have killed anyone I can certainly understand how someone in that situation could feel like doing so. I'm not saying it's right, but I understand how someone could do that. I think even more than the bullies I should be angry as hell with the staff and teachers, because THEY FAILED TO INTERVENE!!!!!!!!!! Even back in kindergarten when I was 5 and being harassed on the bus by three sixth graders the principal simply told me to be responsible and handle the situation myself. He said this to a FIVE YEAR OLD KID!!! Eventually the school took some action, but only AFTER yet another kid complained about the same three sixth graders harassing him. Today I am still so bitter that I even get pleasure out of hearing that some "outcast" shot and killed the motherfucking cowards who had harassed him! It's a cruel think to be happy about but it's the way I feel and it's the person I've become. Hopefully in time I will be able to heal and change as a person. I have a GREAT family who I've always shared everything with and who have always been there to listen and care. That's probably why I never acted out my violent revengeful fantasies. But anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for mentioning this issue on your website. It's long overdue that this issue is FINALLY getting the attention it's desperately needed all along! Another kid trying to cope with being an "outcast"
I think that what you are doing is really great it is about Time that some one cares about the teens that are headed do a prison life. I thank you so much for the part about bullies. When I was in school I was made fun of because I was to fat. People made fun of me so much that I always kept to my self. Then one day I decided that they were all right, I was too fat So I started starving my self and then eventually I started puking to get skinny. In the end I got skinnier and I also got sick and I got in to a lot of trouble. I am now 19 and I am living a normal life. But the new thing that I am getting made fun of about it I am a whore. I am not sure why I am a whore but that is what people are saying. I guess that since I am not so fat any more they have to find something to make fun of me about. I totally understand why those kids killer all the people that were making fun of them in Columbine. If only people would have realized What they were doing to those kids maybe they could have stopped it before it happened. The schools need to talk to the jocks and preppies and let them know what they are doing is wrong. Then maybe there will be justice for those so called "outcasts" thank you so much for you time

For any person thinking of getting with a gang or a life of crime! Hear from kids themselves in prison and many other stories by kids doing hard time. Jail sucks. You really have no idea how bad it is. Parents should be involved too.
